Registration of a domain with the extension .zuerich is reserved for:

Companies and organizations with an entry in the commercial register (UID No.) that have their administrative center in the canton of Zurich,
public sector bodies or organizations based in the canton of Zurich,
associations, specialist departments or similar organizations based in the canton of Zurich that are not entered in the commercial register, but which work predominantly and long term for a public sector body of the canton of Zurich (confirmation required).

Not possible are:

registration of domains on behalf of third parties (e.g. trustee service),
registration by private individuals or sole proprietorships that do not have an entry in the commercial register.

A .zuerich domain will enable local Zurich companies, and therefore Zurich’s economy, to present themselves more effectively on the internet. Owners of .zuerich domains will immediately be associated with Zurich.

As any desired names with the domain extension .zuerich can be registered from 2:00 pm (CET) on December 2, 2021, it is definitely advisable to secure important .zuerich names just in case, before someone else snaps them up.

From the regular phase (general availability), a .zuerich domain will cost CHF 129 per year, incl. VAT. In the first year, the cost will be CHF 79 incl. VAT.

In principle, all domain names with at least 1 character and a maximum of 63 characters can be registered. Permitted characters are letters (a-z, including umlauts ä, ö, ü), numbers (0-9) and hyphens. Please note that general expressions may be subject to further conditions.
